ISIDA's research activities are geared towards developing management culture and resolving concrete cases.
Projects not only address the problems of companies, but also look at the economic and social reality in which they operate, in compliance with art. 2 of the institute's statute, which describes ISIDA as a 'study and research centre at the disposal of public organisations and economic associations'.
As well as carrying out research for scientific and methodological purposes - to which ISIDA is firmly committed and which is conducted individually and in groups - the institute is often called upon by clients to solve specific problems. These clients include the Sicilian Regional Government which commissions ISIDA to carry out economic investigations, various regional, national and international organisations, and small, medium and large enterprises.
Assignments that ISIDA has completed for its clients include: the mission statement of an informatics company; product origin ('made-in') and communication; the citrus fruit market in Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia and Ukraine; product-market strategies for goods and services at international level; the marketing of flowers in a large Dutch cooperative; seat pricing in a theatre; time as a factor of strategic success; the perception of time and psychographic consumer segmentation; marketing research and strategies for Sicilian wine; work load and organisation chart for the Town Council of Palermo and other Sicilian towns; company reorganisation of the Italian Postal Service. ISIDA aims to embrace entrepreneurship and globalisation, without forsaking the specificness and values of the local context in which it operates.
Exchange and collaboration with other institutes and in different fields keeps ISIDA up to date with the latest developments in training, making it an active interlocutor of the most advanced realities of management education. This is reflected in the attention given to informatics methodologies (Internet, E-commerce, Project Manager and Information Technology Manager) in ISIDA's programmes.
